Air conditioning

We got up this morning and we saw a Free rooftop ac unit on craigslist. The guy had no idea if it worked or not.

We get this monster and get it cleaned up in the driveway.

I get it in the garage set the top piece on some chairs, prop the middle on some ammo boxes and hooked the wires from an old  lamp to the power supply. Much to our surprise it works great and blows ice cold!

Outside paint.

I painted all that ugly brown a very dark black with a very lovely epoxy. I think it gives the RV a real updated look.

Return of the cabinets!

Finally got all the cabinets done and back in.

The table

The table was the ugliest piece of misused particle board I had every had the misfortune to come across.

For some reason the stoner idiots we bought the rv from wrapped duct tape all the way around the edges and underneath. After removing the tape I still can't figure out why. The sides aren't peeling off and there is only the tiniest bit chipped off.

After a thorough cleaning and a coat of paint we cut up a topographic map for the edges. Carefully Ironed them.

Placed them around the edges the some elmers spray adhesive.

Then we placed a lovely world map in the center.

Back out the the garage we put on  a few coats of  Spray on polyurethane.
Finished great looking map table we can eat off of.

The fridge

In the Rv originally was a giant non energy star complaint. This power sucker was a big too large for our needs.
Through much anger and disassembly I managed to get the monster out.

The giant filthy space after the fridge was removed.

Nice and cleaned up I managed to get $60 for it on craigslist.

I then spent $25 of it on this slightly banged up but great running magic chef. This should in theory cut down on generator time and give us some much needed space above it to put in a new air conditioner.

The bathroom progresses . Goodbye yellow

First off thanks to everybody we broke 3500 views today!                                          I had no idea people would express that much interest. I can't wait to see how the actual trip portion goes.

Thanks to this stuff out bathroom is no longer yellow. Beware the fumes are powerfull and                it over sprays like a motherfucker. Here is a before and after.

-Jamie

The result is worth the few hundred brain cells I sacrificed to fumes. I bought a cheap respirator before attempting this, I suggest buying one meant for fumes and not just dust or fiberglass. I expected the overhead vent to move more air. The over spray got everywhere including on my shoes and hair, glad I have not finished the wood floor in here yet!

some decoration

Our dead guy box

                                                      Above the door Ouija board

A space for the cats.

We were looking for a place to put the cat box and we decided on creating a closed off space for them under the bench

Here is how it started dangerous hole to the outside and live wires above that

What dreams are made of. Scrap wood and power tools.
Just about finished. Some pvc to cover the wires, then a hole for the door and we are done.
It’s a few days after the five year anniversary of the day we met(the second time, but that's another story!). Five years already, where did it go? I called Jamie on St Patrick's day 2008 and asked what he was doing, He said “I’m at the Whiskey putting drinks on other peoples tabs”. We spent most of the day in the coach, as much as I finished, I really just created more work for myself. I always end up doing that. When we bought the RV, or in German the WoMo, we had really just planned on a deep clean and maybe some paint in the main cabin. Now I’m really trying to keep myself from tearing up more than I can conceivably fix before June. Today I meant to just put a second coat of the robins egg blue in the hall.

Somehow I lost hours cleaning, touching up paint and removing wallpaper. I was going to re glue the loose edges of the wallpaper on the ceiling, but instead I ripped it off. Which meant then I had to pull out the medicine cabinet in order to get the rest of the paper off. I was scrubbing the one piece fiberglass bathroom to prep for spray epoxy when I saw how rusty the screws were, so I pulled them all out and removed the little section of bathroom floor that was not part of the fiberglass. Underneath to my horror I found rotted wood with roots growing through it! roots of what I don’t know, maybe we would have had a tree sprout in the shower if I had left it alone? I wish I would have taken a picture before I attacked it cleaning supplies.

Now I have to get new wood and new lino for the bathroom. It reminded me of when I lived with my sister in North Carolina. We had the worst house, the lumber yard across the alley launched a giant spear of wood through the front window once, but that wasn't the point, the point was I was peeing in that bathroom once and saw something on the scary floor. upon closer inspection I realized they were little mushrooms growing up out of the rotten floorboards. It would have been all fairy tale magicalness if I didn't have to shower in that place wondering when the tub was going to crash through the floor into the swamp below! Oh and I have paint the ceiling because I removed the wallpaper. I still haven't finished taping up the bathroom for epoxy! I also scrubbed the rust out of the stove, I’m going to hit it with high heat Rustoleum in the morning.

Jamie is awesome, never once asked what the hell I thought I was doing back there. Of course I never questioned him regardless of the times he yelled obscenities after being electrocuted. Something I have learned about old cars is that there are always live wires loose under the dash that seem to have no purpose or origin. I have the dinette covers hanging to dry in the basement, they survived the wash! I was testing them before washing the curtains too. I washed the curtains out of my hearse once and they disintegrated, so I have learned my lesson with old curtains.

The cleaned curtains in place

I want to do everything right and perfect, but I also would rather it be done so I can get to the fun parts, like decorating or playing tetris with our belongings. Speaking of belongings I have been getting rid of everything in the house. We are not hoarders, so it seems amazing how much stuff we accumulated in the last 4 years? When we moved to Portland we put everything we owned into our pickup truck, and half the bed was my motorcycle and the our mattress!

Jamie ran new duct work to replace the torn duct that went to the bathroom.

                                                                  Spice cabinet in place!

There were these holes in the counter, and I had an empty miniature bottle of absinthe outside to burn incense in, oddly the cork perfectly fit in the hole. Conveniently I have two of these bottles.

Lamp install cleanup

It looks so much better without cords everywhere.

A wild stereo appears.

I finally got the stereo installed properly. I had to basically run all new wiring. It was kind of a bitch
I cant wait to here some strange Jesusy radio in the midwest.

I got these speakers for $15 at the goodwill. There is one behind the passenger's seat and one behind the driver's. This is probably only a temporary placement until we get more of the cabin finished.

Finally an update.

Sorry for the lack of updates. We have been busy with finals. I got a bunch done today. I fixed the light over the stove then I pulled off and cleaned around some of the switches.

So many drawers painted and any more left to go!

I love lamp

Ugly half broken 70's lamp.

sexy spider web lamp I bought at Ikea.

Updates!

The kitchen is starting to shape up. The maps on the cabinet doors really adds something special.

Most of the painting in the main cabin is done. The remodel has really started to take shape. With the two weeks we have off for spring break I hope to completely finish the inside. I would have done much more this weekend but we have finals next week.

Craziness

The guy we bought the RV from bought it from a traveling husband and wife preachers.
We found their anti-evolution rant mixed in with some of the RV's papers.
