Somehow I lost hours cleaning, touching up paint and removing wallpaper. I was going to re glue the loose edges of the wallpaper on the ceiling, but instead I ripped it off. Which meant then I had to pull out the medicine cabinet in order to get the rest of the paper off. I was scrubbing the one piece fiberglass bathroom to prep for spray epoxy when I saw how rusty the screws were, so I pulled them all out and removed the little section of bathroom floor that was not part of the fiberglass. Underneath to my horror I found rotted wood with roots growing through it! roots of what I don’t know, maybe we would have had a tree sprout in the shower if I had left it alone? I wish I would have taken a picture before I attacked it cleaning supplies.
Now I have to get new wood and new lino for the bathroom. It reminded me of when I lived with my sister in North Carolina. We had the worst house, the lumber yard across the alley launched a giant spear of wood through the front window once, but that wasn't the point, the point was I was peeing in that bathroom once and saw something on the scary floor. upon closer inspection I realized they were little mushrooms growing up out of the rotten floorboards. It would have been all fairy tale magicalness if I didn't have to shower in that place wondering when the tub was going to crash through the floor into the swamp below! Oh and I have paint the ceiling because I removed the wallpaper. I still haven't finished taping up the bathroom for epoxy! I also scrubbed the rust out of the stove, I’m going to hit it with high heat Rustoleum in the morning.
Jamie is awesome, never once asked what the hell I thought I was doing back there. Of course I never questioned him regardless of the times he yelled obscenities after being electrocuted. Something I have learned about old cars is that there are always live wires loose under the dash that seem to have no purpose or origin. I have the dinette covers hanging to dry in the basement, they survived the wash! I was testing them before washing the curtains too. I washed the curtains out of my hearse once and they disintegrated, so I have learned my lesson with old curtains.
The cleaned curtains in place
Jamie ran new duct work to replace the torn duct that went to the bathroom.
There were these holes in the counter, and I had an empty miniature bottle of absinthe outside to burn incense in, oddly the cork perfectly fit in the hole. Conveniently I have two of these bottles.
